About Us...

Vision

“We envision a moral and just society in which all citizens of B.C., regardless of ability will live, learn, work, and play in inclusive communities where the worth and unique value of each person is revealed and honoured; individual aspirations are supported; and opportunities are barrier free.”

 Mission

“Our Mission is to serve as advocates for the actualization of self-determination for all citizens with developmental disabilities, their families and other community members to empower them with the knowledge and opportunity to make informed choices and exercise control over their lives; and to create a climate for positive social change to enable them to be respected, valued and interdependent members of society and community.”

History of enVision Society for Choice and Inclusion

The enVision Society for Choice and Inclusion was created as a result of the amalgamation of Family Life Home (FLH) service providers from across British Columbia. Within this society there are three former societies and two representative groups from various communities.

The Independent Caregivers for Community Living Federation, for South Fraser (ICCLF) was established in 1997 in response to the Ministry for Children and Families Contract Program Restructuring (CPR) initiative. The proposal submitted by this organization was successfully tendered, however, the initiative was terminated throughout the province by government. The support and network function of ICCLF has since continued.

Vancouver Pri-Care also emerged during the CPR process. This society provides a strong support and advocacy network for people living in FLHs as well as an information network for FLH services within the Vancouver Central area. ICCLF and Van. Pri-Care has coordinated their efforts throughout the lower mainland over the past 5 years.

The Community Residential Service Providers Association of BC (CRSP of BC), was founded in 1986. It evolved from a strong belief that as FLH service providers, there was a real need to advocate for the people we supported, to stay informed, to contribute responsibly for the betterment of services and supports, and to provide a positive influence for Community Living at all levels. CRSP has successfully created a network across BC that has removed isolation, validated the uniqueness of this residential option and promoted the rights and true quality of family life for persons with developmental disabilities.

Collectively, we came together recognizing there was an important role for a provincial organization to play in providing stability, continuity and growth orientation for Family Life Homes. Envision evolved from a strong belief that as service providers in Family Life Homes, there is a need to advocate for the people we support, to stay informed, to contribute responsibly for the betterment of services and supports, and to provide a positive influence for Community Living at all levels.
